Estonian Central Council in Canada Order of Merit recipient and executive producer of the Estonian television program, "Telepeegel", the two award-winning documentaries (Gulag 113 and Gustloff) by Marcus Kolga and "25,000 Sing" by Ellen Valter, Madeline Ziniak, who is also OMNI Television National Vice President and Executive Chair of the Canadian Ethnic Media Association, has been named a Member of the Order of Canada, Canada's highest civilian honour for lifetime achievement.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, made the announcement about Madeline Ziniak and 59 others on Canada Day. The presentation ceremony will be held at a later date in Rideau Hall, the residence of the Governor General.

As Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.), Madeline Ziniak was cited for, "her contributions as the major driving force behind the development and growth of multilingual and multicultural television in Canada."

Ziniak has also been named to the "Order of Ontario" in 2001 as well as receiving Latvian and other ethnic community awards.

Congratulations to Madeline Ziniak for her well-deserved award.
