Toronto police taped off a large crime scene as members of 53 Division along with the homicide unit investigated. Several evidence markers were seen on the ground near a large forensic services van right across from Tartu College and a building site for KESKUS
The victim has been identified by police as 27-year-old Toronto resident Darapheakdey “Daral” Sovann.
Authorities aren’t revealing too many details about what might have occurred as they want those responsible to come forward and “tell us what happened.” Police did not elaborate on exactly how the victim was injured or if a weapon was used.
Police believe three suspects are involved in this incident based on initial camera footage that they’ve obtained from the area.
Det. Sgt. Phil Campbell, of the homicide unit, said those responsible may not be aware that the victim passed away.
“I want them to know, if they’re watching, that somebody died. Whatever happened between this party and our victim resulted in his death. That’s somebody’s kid,” he said.
“Do the right thing, get a hold of a lawyer, and get a hold of us.”
Campbell also urged anyone with information to contact Toronto police at 416-808-5300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
“We are appealing to the public for assistance. … If you were in the area at the time of the investigation or have any information that might help us, please reach out to us.”
