According to his family, Mart Laar’s medical condition has not improved over the last few days.

The Defence minister’s recovery is being impeded by pneumonia, the patient still needs to be in intensive care.

Minister of Defence Mart Laar was hospitalized on February 18th due to a stroke caused by high blood pressure.

Mart Laar will stay in the hospital due to the need for a continuous medical surveillance and a quiet regime. Thus, the duties of the Minister of Defence are fulfilled by the Minister of Education and Research Jaak Aaviksoo.
