Tribute to Liberty project to honour victims of communism

A group trying to build a monument to the victims of communism in Ottawa has raised only a small fraction of the $1.5 million it needs for the project.
The National Capital Commission last year agreed to allow Tribute to Liberty to plan a monument in the Garden of the Provinces and Territories across from the National Library and Archives Building on Wellington Street.
If it is ever built, it will be called the Monument to Victims of Totalitarian Communism, a name carefully chosen to avoid offending countries still ruled by Communist regimes.
