Adrienne Clarkson says it's an opportunity for her office to explain to Canadians what the Governor General does.
But, in Moscow today, she's indicated she has no plans to appear before the M-P's.
The government committee will probe why Clarkson's budget has jumped to 19 (m) million dollars from about 11 (m) million when she took office.
The committee also will ask questions about three state visits, including the current one.
It's a one (m) million dollar, 19-day circumpolar trip to Russia, Finland and Iceland with 59 Canadian intellectuals, artists, scientists, ambassadors and political activists in tow.
On two other state visits in 2001, to Germany and to Chile and Argentina, Clarkson was also accompanied by scores of people.
The three trips have been paid for by the Foreign Affairs Department.
