Much success to

Institutions plant solid roots in a community usually after a long period of nurturing and societal acceptance. Changes in such time-honoured fixtures often evoke apprehension and upset our complacency.
The introduction of "Estonian Life" as the new "voice" of our Estonian community in Canada is however a welcome adjustment in the established rhythms of our society. By acquiring the publishing rights to "Vaba Eestlane" (Free Estonian) and "Meie Elu" (Our Life), Tartu College, as the new owner of "Estonian Life" and as a registered non-profit corporation, can viably continue to produce and distribute a crucially necessary vehicle of news, comment and analysis.
Our newspapers have for fifty years stalwartly fulfilled a critical role in helping to preserve our ethnic identity, in holding our common values in focus, in mobilizing common efforts, in developing consensus over disputed issues. Their role has extended above and beyond that of a traditional journal.
May we offer "Estonian Life" at its auspicious birth and its already established internet extension at the www.eesti.ca address a flourishing entrance and fortuitous longevity.
