NEW JAAN KROSS NOVEL IN ENGLISH

As I've just translated a 350-page novel by Jaan Kross into English, I thought that readers of your newspaper, especially second or third generation Estonian-Canadians, may like to know about it. In May 2003, the novel "Treading Air" (i.e. the English translation of "Paigallend") will be
appearing with The Harvill Press, London, UK.

The book is a tragi-comic novel about the life and times of one Ullo Paerand who is born in about 1915 and has a series of adventures, ending up as an errand boy for the Prime Minister's office in Tallinn. The original Estonian version appeared in 1998.
