Aivis Ronis, the new foreign minister of Latvia, will be in Estonia for a working visit on 3 May. The Latvian foreign minister has meetings planned with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, and Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.
Topics to be addressed at the meetings are Estonia-Latvia bilateral relations and co-operation in international sticking points. Aivis Ronis, as the representative of the Baltic nations in the group of experts working on NATO’s new Strategic Concept, will discuss the Alliance’s new concept and activities in Afghanistan, as well as matters related to the creation of a European Union foreign service, the implementation of the Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, and Eastern Partnership.
