This is a personal message from the CEO of Haute Culture Books, a Stockholm based new publisher, about an Estonian major cultural event. It will take you 5 minutes to read and understand.
My name is Luis de Miranda and I have been an author and a publisher for many years, in Paris, France, before I moved to Sweden. Together with a North-American editorial team, I just created Haute Culture Books to fight agains standardized fast-books and publish only masterpieces in a fine collection. We decided to start this company with the "Tammsaare project" : we would like to translate and publish for the first time his major saga, Truth and Justice, in English, and at least to start with the autonomous first volume, Andres and Pearu.
Everything is being organized to complete and excellent translation and distribute it worldwide, but we need "book angels" to commit to be able to continue the project. A book angel is a person, an institution, or a company that pre-orders the luxury edition (one or more volumes), thus sponsoring the project: you will get to donate 100 e-book versions for every order and your name will be printed in the book. This is how we will be able to publish, further on, a paperback version and a global e-book version.
The university of Tartu and the Estonian Ministry of Culture are already our Book Angels. We only need 150/180 orders to be able to make it happen. We are producing our hand-made luxury books in Estonia, so we will be creating jobs there.
