Now it’s getting fascinating

The first " non " non confidence vote in Canadian political history took place the evening of May 10. The Conservative/Bloc defeated the liberal/kneedippers 153 to 150, but it was not a money bill so it is hard to tell what the purpose exactly was. Opposition Leader Stephen Harper looked happy, Prime Minister Paul Martin looked too much like an over-taxed school teacher trying to explain the obvious.
On May 11, it was announced by Martin that the real non-confidence vote will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2005 when the government presents its money bill with the NDP’s amended " goodies for the people ". Enjoy the bloodsport.
