Dear Raivo Remmel,

I received your latest email.

I was shocked. Your timing to invite me to the board is a bit late.

February 10, 2018 you gave me a very nice invitation to join the board. This invitation indicated that I should respond to you using the email address
The next day, I signed the “conflict of interest Policy, scanned it and emailed it to the email address above
NO RESPONSE… and I kept hearing of board meeting via people.
Vaino Einola had a meeting with you and you mentioned that I had not responded to the invitation.
I emailed Vaino a copy of my acceptance and included you again. Thus, I sent a second time my acceptance.
No Invite received…..
At the last community meeting, you apologized… that you did not receive my acceptance. Though I used the email address you told me to use.
You shared your business email with me at the community meeting and it is that email you used to invite me to sit with the board. I actually asked you if I could sit with the board at that last fund raising meeting and you said it is too late.
Thus, I have included the email correspondence that has occurred between us with the community

I am but one voice… commenting online. If only you could have just followed the rules.

Why would you put yourself and the board in this position?

Correspondence between me and Raivo Remmel regarding being on the board of Estonian House 2018

EWR contacted the Toronto Estonian House board for comment and received the following reply.

In good faith on February 12, 2018, on behalf of the Board of the Estonian House, Ingrid Tanner was given a letter inviting her to serve on the Board to fill a vacancy. No response was received until she approached me on April 4th at the Town Hall meeting and asked about her status. I was surprised when she indicated that she had sent a response a month and a half earlier. Clearly there had been some breakdown with email communications. We are disappointed that during those 7 weeks she made no attempt to follow up by making alternate arrangements to contact me, any other member of the board, or the Estonian House office through any other channels to submit her signed consent to serve A phone call would have identified a problem and enabled us to clear it up and move forward quickly.

On Apr. 4th Ingrid sent a test message which I did receive. I waited unsuccessfully for 6 days for her to send her consent and then followed up with an email asking her to use my business email account, in case the estohouse.com email was still faulty.

Still receiving nothing, I sent a follow-up email 2 days later.

Still receiving no response, I followed up 3 days later again.

Other than her signed copy attached to her open letter, I have not formally received her signed consent.

It is truly unfortunate that Ingrid Tanner has decided to follow up through the public media when a timely call or email to the Estonian House office could have resolved this issue weeks ago.

Obviously, you didn't have a parent in Ehatare, during the long series of assaults against it. The details have never been disclosed. That was precluded by Rosie's lawsuit and confidentiality aggreement.
Ehatare didn't become a better institution. In spite of relentless efforts to the contrary, it survived, intact, without "improvements" (sic.)
The Estonian House Board will, indeed, think twice about their decisions, knowing that so-called "community members" (actually, non-shareholders on the sidelines with no skin in the game) can't be pacified. Be specific, Sad Day! What is "the due process" owed to irresponsible busybodies by the Board?

This comment seems to be made by the person who constantly writes disparaging comments about people in relation to past events at Ehatare. You need to let go of this issue, this is not healthy for you.

I believe what happened at Ehatare resulted in Ehatare becoming a better institution today for its residents. The leadership had become dysfunctional and the spotlight on activities was needed to make improvements.

The spotlight today on the activities of the Estonian House Board will also help it think twice about any decisions that they make, since they know that not all community members agree with their course of action. The board has made questionable decisions (including what appear to be games played when it came to letting Väino and Ingrid onto the board -- this tarnished their reputation in my view). What else are they willing to do, that is questionable? How far are they willing to go, since such a "win" may embolden them in the future to take other liberties at the expense of due process?
