Ottawa Estonian Christmas Concert

The Embassy of Estonia in Ottawa presented "An Estonian Christmas Concert" on December 22 at the Latvian church. This was the last performance of the USA-Canada Concert Tour, which started December 17. The program included music of George Friedrich Handel, Franz Schubert, Vincenzo Bellini, Giuseppe Verdi, J.S. Bach, Adolphe Adam and Estonian composers Konstantin Türnpu, Mart Saar, Tuudur Vettik, Veljo Tormis, Juhan Aavik, Olav Ehala, Eduard Tubin, Villem Kapp, Artur Kapp and Lepo Sumera.

The USA-Canada Concert Tour was organized by the Embassy of Estonia in Washington D.C. in close cooperation with the Estonian Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the Consulate General in New York, and the Embassy of Estonia in Ottawa. Local partners were the Estonian Societies and Houses of Lakewood, New Jersey, New York and Ottawa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, the Ministry of Culture and private sponsors financed the tour.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the concert and gave the performers a well-deserved standing ovation.
