Over 500 researchers from 60 countries gathered in Tallinn today for the annual conference of the International Association of Science Parks.
The three-day event focuses on establishing cooperation between different research institutions, universities and science parks that would benefit the economies of various regions and provide favorable conditions for establishing new innovative companies, Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol, host of the undertaking, said in a statement.
"The development of technology is changing our business environment. Today we see business trends that a few years ago were unimaginable," said Pirko Konsa, member of the board of Tehnopol, adding that such rapid development puts greater demands on research and education institutions.
During the conference, a number of world leading researchers will take the stage as will Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Minister of Economic Affairs Juhan Parts, the organizers said.
The international association unites over 400 science parks from 70 nations around the world.
