As of February 15, 83,507 citizens of the Russian Federation live in Estonia with a valid residence permit or right of residence, reports ERR. Large majority of the Russian citizens live in Harju and Ida-Viru County.
Of the Russian citizens living in Estonia, 73,772 have long-term resident residence permits and nearly 9,500 Russian citizens have temporary residence permits to live in Estonia.
Among local municipalities, the largest number of Russian citizens live in Harju County (40,186) and Ida-Viru County (35,405). The fewest live in Saaremaa (62) and Hiiumaa (5).
The largest number of Russian citizens in Estonia belong to the age group of 65–69 (9,387).
According to the 2021 census, there were 315,252 ethnic Russians living in Estonia, the majority of whom have Estonian citizenship.
