Toronto, April 1st, 2013 – The Toronto Estonian Schools is now accepting pre-sale orders for a Truckload Rain Barrel Sale scheduled for Saturday April 20th at the ESTONIAN HOUSE, 958 Broadview Ave, north of Danforth, from 8 AM to noon. Rain barrels are being sold for $50 each and funds raised will support the schools’ varied activities.
Toronto City Council approved a bylaw making it mandatory for property owners to disconnect their downspouts. Disconnecting downspout(s) from the sewer system can reduce the risk of basement flooding and releasing polluted rainwater into our local waterways. A rain barrel is perfect to collect and reuse our precious resource of water!
The Toronto Estonian Schools is organizing this as their major fundraiser this year in conjunction with a huge GARAGE SALE. (donations of items welcome evenings of April 15th and 16t h downstairs at 958 Broadview) Our goal for the event is to raise $5000 with the support of all of you!
Rain barrels capture and store rain water collected from roofs through downspouts. They provide chlorine-free and fluoride-free water which is ideal for flowers, vegetables, lawns, shrubs and trees. Collected water has a number of other uses including washing cars, cleaning floors, laundry and more. These many uses can provide cost savings and conservation opportunities for every homeowner, especially those who pay to have water trucked in, use a well or have a water meter installed.
Purchasers have a choice of colours and each rain barrel available through The Toronto Estonian Schools comes equipped with all the parts you need to set up your barrel These environmentally friendly products were once used to transport fruits and vegetables and have been refurbished and repurposed to offer years of reliable service as rain barrels. All orders must be placed online in advance at www.RainBarrel.ca/Estonia or by calling 416-970-5930.
