On September 14th, 2019, 59 golfers registered to play at the 23rd Annual EGO Golf Tournament at the beautiful Nobleton Lakes Golf Course just north of Nobleton, Ontario. The weather was cloudy in the morning and then the sun came out when the tournament started.

As the golfers arrived for registration at 11:00 am they were received by hot coffee and kringel. The kringels were donated by Ülle Veltmann Catering. Lunch was a choice of hamburger or sausage on a bun. After lunch the golfers took part in the putting contest run by Tony Kadai.

After a group photo, Jon Mozes, the Nobleton Lakes Golf Course Pro welcomed the EGO
golfers and went over some of the rules pertaining to the scramble play. Jaak Jarve, EGO
tournament organizer also welcomed this year’s golfers and notified everybody of the new
category of play for the “240” scramble players (where all four members’ ages add up to over
240).

At about 1:00 pm, the shotgun EGO tournament carts rolled out from the clubhouse to the
awaiting tees and fairways. The course was in excellent shape, lots of water and many of the
greens were protected by sand bunkers.

When the players came into the clubhouse after their round of golf they were treated to some pirukad before a buffet dinner of shaved roast beef, followed by dessert and coffee. Following dinner, Jaak Järve distributed out the awards and raffle winning prizes. The raffle generated $920.00 for the EGO tournament. Some of the top prizes included free rounds of golf at the Nobleton Lakes golf course, Cognac bottles (sponsored by friends of Peeter Kopvillem and Alan Liik), Best Buy gift coupons, LCBO gift coupons, golfing books, wedges, a golf bag, comic books, DVDs and EGO rain umbrellas.

The tournament was a huge success due to the participation of the players but also our hole sponsors - Estonian Foundation of Canada, Estonian Toronto Credit Union, Rob Saarna - Royal Lepage Real Estate Services Ltd., Mark Vaher - Remax Premier, Heinsoo Insurance, Ülle Veltmann Catering, friends of Peeter Kopvillem and Allan Liik, Jack Lake Productions Inc., and a special thanks to Gary Brownslie from Weitzes Toyota for the $20,000 vehicle opportunity.

EGO (Estonian Golf Club of Ontario) would also like to thank Kariina Järve for her spotting duties on View Hole #3 and her registration services. Thanks again to Tõnu Kadai who managed the putting contest. A special thank you to Toomas Loite, who captured the magic of the day with amazing photographs.

Thank you Jon Mozes, and the entire Nobleton Lakes Golf Course team, you made us feel at home again.

See you all next year, at our 24th anniversary, at the Cardinal West Golf Course on September 26th 2020!
