Report on the 24th EGO GOLF TOURNAMENT Estonian Life

On September 26th, 2020, the year of the COVID, 67 golfers registered to play at the 24th Annual EGO Golf Tournament at the Cardinal Golf Course just north of Toronto, Ontario. The weather was simply an idyllic fall day for the game of golf.
As the golfers arrived for their tee- off times starting at 10:30 am they were received by hot coffee and kringel at the registration desk by both Kariina Järve and Declan O’Neill. The kringels were donated by Ülle Veltmann Catering. Lunch was provided after nine holes and a choice of hamburger or sausage on a bun with a soft drink was available.
After each group posed for their photos, off they went to compete over the next 18 holes on the Cardinal West Course.
The course was in excellent shape, lots of water and many of the greens were protected by sand bunkers.
The individual winners were as follows:
West Hole #2- Closest to the Pin (Everybody)- Toomas Eichenbaum
West Hole #3- Closet to the Beer Keg- Kristjan Lindstrom
West Hole #4- Men’s Longest Drive- Nick Kazakoff
West Hole#5- Closest to the Pin (Men)- Felice Turano
West Hole #7- -Closest to the Pin (Everybody)- Uno Jaason
West Hole #10- Ladies Longest Drive- Lesley Brown
West Hole #14- Closest to the Pin (Everybody)- Ian Daniels
West Hole #15- Straightest Drive (Everybody)- Roy Turner
West Hole #17- Closest to the Pin (Ladies)- Riina Klaas
Men’s putting champion was Gary MacKinnon who won with a score of 110 points.
Women’s putting champion was Aili Wells with 85 points.
All individual winners will receive $50 gift cards from LCBO and BEST BUY through the mail.
Most of the golfers played the scramble format.

Most Honest Golfer – Kirk Dickenson
When the players came into the clubhouse after their round of golf they finished the day with a putting contest. The raffle generated $1000.00 for the EGO tournament. Winner of the round trip for two airfare in Canada was Joe McGrath. Winner of 4 rounds of golf at Cardinal Golf Course was Jon Pagonis.
The tournament was a huge success due to the participation of the players but also our hole sponsors- Mark Vaher- Remax Premier, Nick Kazakoff- Urban Realty, Jason Brooks, Ian Daniels, Vince Turano, Tony Turano, Ülle Veltmann Catering, friends of Peeter Kopvillem and Allan Liik, Jack Lake Productions Inc. and Anonymous.
EGO (Estonian Golf Club of Ontario) would also like to thank Kariina Järve and Declan O’ Neill for their registration and photography duties during the day. Thank you Jason McNally, and the entire Cardinal Golf Course team, you made us feel welcome.
