Promising young Estonian violinist Mari Poll won third place and special honors for best performance of French music at the Vibrarte international violin competition in Paris.

The competition included performers from 28 countries. Poll was the only Estonian performer at the event and the only woman among the six finalists.

A week earlier, Poll won the Derek Butler London Prize.

Poll has been studying in the UK since 2004. She began at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, and is currently pursuing her master's degree at the Royal College of Music in London.
