Russia to put missiles in Kaliningrad
05 Nov 2008 EWR Online
The Baltic Business News reports that according to Ria Novosti and Reuters Russia will place Iskander-type missiles in Kaliningrad, as a response to the planned US missile shield in Europe. Russian President Dmitri Medvedev said in his annual speech to the Federal Council that Russia will start staggering US missile shields electronically.
Russia has expressed its fear that US missile shield jeopardizes Russian national security, since US plans to found its antimissile radar to Czech and ten rockets to Poland to keep away a possible attack from Iran.
The Iskander rockets have a range of 50-400 kilometres.
