The website gazeta.ru reported that the Estonian government has granted political asylum to Russian blogger and activist Maksim Yefimov, who has criticized the Russian Orthodox Church.
Earlier this year, the Russian public prosecutor reportedly charged Yefimov for inciting hatred in an article that describing corruption, Russia's secret service and the church. Yefimov has said the allegation was politically motivated, the newspaper reported.
Yefimov said that he was given refugee status and a three-year residency permit in Estonia.
The Interior Ministry does not comment on matters of political asylum.
