Canadian Interuniversity Sport, dated March 3,2004 page 1 under heading "OUA Track & Field Team Champion Collect Individual Honours" announces:"For the women, University of Toronto pole-vaulter, Kate Sauks (Owen Sound,ON) was honoured as Female Rookie of the Year.

Her successful vault of 3.6 m gave the first year physical education student her first OUA gold medal. Sauks also finished seventh in the pentathlon."

Katherine Merike Sauks is the daughter of physician dr. Toomas Peeter Sauks, formerly of Toronto, now practicing in Owen Sound.
