Kelly Sildaru won bronze (82.06 points) behind Swiss Mathilde Gremaud (86.56 points) and Chinese Eileen Gu (86.23) in the slopestyle event at the Beijing Olympics.

The first run of the 19-year-old Estonian was judged with 82.06 points, which also made her the leader, but on the the second run, Gremaud, who was the last to reach the final, received 86.56 points.

Sildaru's second run went well until the landing of the last jump, when, like during the Big Air qualification, she lost one ski. The third run was well executed with some deductions in the rail section, and 78.75 points meant that she didn't improve on her score.

The home crowd favorite Aileen Gu was in eighth place after two runs, but managed to score 86.23 points on the third and rose to second place after Gremaud.

The top three were followed by Anastassija Tatalina, ROC (75.51), Maggie Voisin, USA (74.28), Johanne Killi, NOR (73.11), Tess Ledeux, FRA (72.91) and Kirsty Muir, GBR (71.30).

What is slopestyle skiing?

In slopestyle, skiers perform a variety of tricks as they move through a course that includes rails, boxed, bumps, and jumps. Athletes are evaluated based on their technical difficulty, as well as their style. Trick judges score athletes for their technical ability (60% of the total score) and overall judges rate overall impression (40% of the score). Scores range from 0 to 100 points.
