SPRING FESTIVAL - Kevadine rahvapidu
with Kristina Agur and Stephen Bell.
Estonian House - Toronto

Soprano Kristina Agur, freshly completing her B. Mus, at the University of Toronto is a familiar face in the Toronto Estonian community. She is very excited to continue on at the University of Toronto Masters of Opera Studies program next year!

Last summer, she performed Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmelites with Halifax Summer Opera Festival, as Madame Lidoine. She had her professional stage debut with productions of Rachmaninoff’s Aleko and Milton Granger’s Talk Opera with Opera Five, where she played Old Gypsy Woman and Audience. Other roles include: Mistress of the Novices (Suor Angelica), Shaindel (Fiddler on the Roof), and Cherubino (Nozze di Figaro).

Kristina is grateful to the Estonian community for their support and plethora of performance opportunities. She is excited to collaborate with Stephen and Charles once more for the Spring Festival!

Stephen Bell is described by Cesky Kultur Magazine as “a bright tenor, with a lovely lyrical Mozart voice”, a young upcoming tenor in the Canadian Opera scene.

Stephen with pianist Charles Kipper recently gave a recital featuring Estonian artsongs in Montreal at the Chapelle historique du Bon Pasteur and they are looking forward to tours in New York, Boston and Estonia.

The audience in Montreal fully enjoyed the recital, especially the latter half of the program which were songs reflective of the Estonian spirit.

Stephen’s many credits include understudying the roles of “Scaramuccio” in the Ariadne auf Naxos, “Nathaniel” in the Les contes d’Hoffmann “2nd Jew” in Salome, and “Juan” in Don Quichotte all with the Canadian Opera Company. Stephen recently preformed the role of “Nemorino” in L’Elisir d’amore with Maritime Concert Opera.

In concert work, Stephen sung the tenor soloist Handel’s Messiah with the Vancouver Bach Choir, the Mississauga Choral Society, and toured with Teplice Radio Orchestra in the Czech Republic.

The Estonian community in Toronto has the unique opportunity to hear Stephen Bell and “the lyrical quality of his voice, which exudes warmth and sincerity” and our own soprano Kristina Agur on Sunday, June 8th.

The Spring Festival starts at 1:00 o’clock and features both Christina Agur and Stephen Bell accompanied by Charles Kipper, Toronto’s Estonian folk dancers “Kungla” and Enno Agur on accordion.

The $30.00 ticket includes a warm buffet luncheon with a cash bar.

To purchase and reserve your tickets and table, please call: Leida Pajur- 416-724-8422.
