Financial Times has named Tallinn's Christmas Market as one of the best in the world. Other noteworthy entries in the list are Dresden (Germany), Bath (UK), Montbéliard (France), San Francisco (USA), Zagreb (Croatia), Copenhagen (Denmark), Chicago (USA), Vienna (Austria) and Singapore.
Conde Nast Traveler, CNN and The Times also name Tallinn's Christmas Market as one of the best in the world.
"Christmas songs play over the speakers, and the scents of traditional Estonian dishes and snacks – black pudding, sour cabbage, gingerbread – fill the air. Warm up with hot, rum-based Vana Tallinn liqueur before shopping for woollen hats, wooden chopping boards and snuggly jumpers," said the Conde Nest Traveler.
"Set inside Tallinn’s Town Hall Square, it’s packed full of stalls with traditional Estonian cuisine, artisan bread and handicrafts for sale. On the entertainment front, there are carousels, a winter grotto and a Santa who rolls up on a sleigh complete with reindeer," said CNN.
Tallinn has a long history with Christmas celebrations, claiming to be the first ever city to put up a Christmas tree in the centre of its medieval Town Hall Square in 1441.
