The Board of the National Alliance „All for Latvia!" - „For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK" has sent a letter to the Parliament of Estonia inviting the latter not to repeat the mistakes made by Latvia in 2007 when the border agreement with the Russian Federation was concluded.
The National Alliance reminds that by entering into that agreement Latvia decided to surrender part of its territory (the Abrene district) to the Russian Federation. The Board of the National Alliance is of the opinion that Latvia must share its experience with Estonia.
The National Alliance warns the people of Estonia against Russia's actions that could be detrimental to the national interest of Estonia.
„The underlying principle of the Russian diplomacy towards the Baltic States is to throw doubt upon the legal continuity of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, seeking to legitimise the Soviet occupation of the Baltic countries", indicated Mr Jānis Dombrava, Member of the Saeima.
The Board of the National Alliance recognises the sovereignty of the Republic of Estonia over all the territories covered by the Russian - Estonian Peace Treaty of 1920 and the Constitution of Estonia. The Nation Alliance emphasises that the ethnic Estonians and indigenous peoples living in the Petseri region, to the east of Narva and on the northern shore of Lake Peipus (historical Ingria) should not be subjected to Russification and discrimination, but must obtain real opportunities to develop their language and culture.
