On a snowy December afternoon the kalaturg (fish market) in Tallinn is closed. You'll have to come back on Saturday. Come warmer weather, you can sit on its patio. That's the steely Soome laht or Gulf of Finland beyond the trees. And across the street are three places highlighted in a recent New York Times travel section article "Local Hangouts in a Tallinn, Estonia neighborhood". For tourists, this may seem like the periphery, but there's a good amount of local sagimine (bustling) here. And it's only just beyond the Paks Margareeta cannon tower... Tallinn is not big.
