Nearly six million Canadians watch WTN - the Women’s Television Network each week. It is the only specialty cable network designed by, and for and about Canadian women. Force Four Entertainment of Vancouver and New Shoes Productions have launched a new series on WTN, titled (somewhat tongue in cheek) “The Shopping Bags”. We know full well, that shopping is a passion as well as a pastime, and the humourous title of the new show indicates that the two can be merged. As most Couch Potatoes - almost all of whom are male can attest - shopping is best left to those who know how to be savvy, shrewd, and most important save a buck or more in the process.

Our Estonian readers will be delighted to find out, that one of the hosts, Anna Wallner, is half-Estonian. In tandem with Kristina Matisic, the two hosts ( The Shopping Bags, as the accompanying photo indicates, a major misnomer) are exactly the kind of shoppers that many wish that they had the time to be. Whether searching for a new set of wheels, stocking the pantry or gearing up for a camping trip, the show provides tips, tricks, and inside information to make anyone a smart shopper.

Its practical information packaged in a fast-paced, dynamic and entertaining half-hour, presented by two award-winning journalists who devote themselves to the culture of shopping.

Former news reporters and hosts, Matisic and Wallner write consumer advocacy and shopping advice columns for publications such as InStyle magazine, The Vancouver Province newspaper and Bumblebee media’s national chain of community newspapers.

“Women make 80% of the shopping decisions in Canada. We think they’re hungry for consumer information but don’t necessarily have thew time to do all the research. The Shooping Bags is going to be a one-stop shop for anyone looking to make educated purchasing decisions in today’s marketplace.

“And since shopping is ourt favoutite pasttime, the show is lots of fun” adds Kristina Matisic. The two hosts put products to the test in ways you would never imagine. Tune in to The Shopping Bags and get the upper hand on the market and the mall, advise the hosts. A website is available, theshoppingbags.com.
