An encounter with "The Count of Borstahusen" Sture Andersson, led to the defining moment of Karl Gustav becoming an artist. After finishing school, he was working at a public relations agency where "The Count" appeared one day in 1967, needing help with the promotion of the first exhibition of Marc Chagall's work in Scandinavia. Andersson travelled the world and collected paintings by many famous artists. He was himself a close friend of artists such as Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall. This meeting had a great impact on the launch of Thulin's career. Andersson introduced him into the right circles and he got to exhibit his paintings along with world famous artists in both Sweden and the rest of Europe.
As a 17 year old, Thulin described himself as a surrealist and that particularly Salvador Dali was a great inspiration to him.
His web-site www.karlgustavthulin.com has a thorough documentation of his life and work.
