It arrived a bit late, but winter is finally settling in across Estonia; the snow is falling steadily and this is great news in advance of this weekend’s stage of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup which will be hosted in Otepää. Teams representing twenty two countries, including the United States which will be represented by Alaska’s Kikkan Randall, will be on hand and the competition will surely be fierce.

The competitors from around the world descending on Estonia’s small winter-capital city represent the very best and include the top five athletes from both the men’s and women’s cross-country skiing worlds. The two-day competition begins tomorrow and will include both a sprint event and a distance event, the latter on Sunday. Estonia will be well represented by local favorites including Kein Einaste and Peeter Kümmel, both of whom fared well last year.
