Starting on Monday May 9, 2011 Toronto kicked off "Ethnic Media Week" at (new) City Hall rotunda on 6pm. Sponsored by the Government of Ontario, organized by the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) headed by President Thomas Saras

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford started proceedures with a speech and a proclamation.

Representing Ontario was Citizenship and Immigration Minister Dr. Eric Hoskins. "I am honoured to be speaking here tonight, because of the critically important role that you play in our democracy," said Dr. Hoskins. "It's clear from your display here at City Hall, that the multilingual media, and NEPMCC in particular, is more vibrant than ever. Ontario is turning the corner. Just recently, its been reported that we've recovered all the jobs lost in the global economic downturn."

The recovered jobs are not of the same value as those lost, but the numbers are right.

Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Tony Ruprecht was also present. Ruprecht has been the Godfather of the east European political community.
