Villu Veski to perform in Toronto
While trained as a classical saxophonist Veski has of late made a name as a jazz musician, expressing himself in among others swing, ethno-jazz and funky-groove styles. He has also premiered a number of concertos for saxophone, and worked with the Estonian State Symphony and conductors such as Neeme Järvi and Eri Klas.
Veski notes that his musical travels have brought him into contact with differing rhythms and melodies, from Brazilian Carnival tunes to being influenced by the mystical landscape of the Faeroe Islands. As a composer these international influences have been fused into an individual form of musical expression that holds attraction for us all. His search for new musical colours has been captured on a number of recordings, more information is available on the website
