On Saturday May 2nd the giant rummage sale "HIIGELBASAAR" will finish its 20 year run! At 8 o'clock in the morning, the doors of St Andrew's Lutheran Church (corner of Carlton and Jarvis) will open for the very last time to the anxiously waiting throngs of bargain hunters who are usually lined up down the street and around the corner. And at one o'clock, the final clean-up will begin, the final communal ritual of sauerkraut soup, black bread and beer!

In the meantime, the organizing committee awaits your donations. Please bring your reusable, resellable, in-good-condition items to the church between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.on Wednesday April 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd. Helpful, ablebodied volunteers will be at the church ready to spring into action as soon as you pull up with your carload of goodies.

What to donate? The usual no's - no clothing, no computers, no Orto or Kirjanike Kooperatiiv books please! A resounding yes to almost everything else - clothing accessories from hats to socks and for all body parts in-between, bedding, kitchen and bathroom towels and linens, fabrics, notions, shoes, purses, luggage, giftware, books, artwork, toys, office supplies, glassware, dishes, pots, pans, all manner of kitchenware, small appliances, tools, jewellery, pet supplies, sports equipment, lamps, small household items and the list goes on. And not to be forgotten - both the general boutique and the Esto Boutique will also be looking for donations!

Do not miss this final opportunity to recycle all those unneeded and unused items which are clogging up your household. And remember - your contribution will benefit Estonian children everywhere! Should you have questions, please contact HB XX coordinators Maaja Matsoomaaja@rogers.com 416-691-0764 or Helle Arrohellearro@rogers.com 416- 449-4209.

It is understandable that the fabulous board and committee of volunteers can not organize this event forever, however, is it possilbe to continue this tradition under the direction of a new executive??? It may even be likely that many of the current volunteers will stay on too. One would hate to see such a well organized and profitable event just disappear.
BRAVO to Ellen, Maaja and Helle and all the rest of AKEN for truly a job well done for so many years
