Exercise Siil 2022 (Hedgehog 2022) is currently being conducted in Estonia until June 3rd. Approximately 15,000 conscripts, reservists, active duty servicemen, members of Estonian Defence League and allies from ten countries are taking part of the exercise.
The exercise will test combat readiness of Estonian Defence Forces and the ability to respond to different threat scenarios in an international framework.
As part of Siil 2022, Sven Wichman, a US born Estonian National Guardsman, was keeping US based A-10 aircraft safe in Saaremaa. Sven Wichman did his military conscription service with Kuperjanov battalion, Estonia, in 2016 - 2017. Sven was interviewed by Toronto Estonian, major (R) Ülo Isberg.
