0Just recently Neeme Järvi disclosed his personal view about Estonian music-that it has lost much of its gloss due to the fact that in Estonia itself, music has slowly lost its slogan as Estonia's passport to the world. Perhaps it might be worth remembering that Estonian pride can only be sustained for as long as general interest in the arts can be sustained. Judging by the declining level of interest towards serious music in Estonia, it may be that the former cultural super-state is dumbing itself down in size to the rest of the world's worst forms of cultural expression.
